1. Eddie Thompson
After a long playing career in Scotland followed by three years at Sydney City, Eddie Thompson went on to coach Australia from 1990 to 1996 and then the J-League’s Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
2. Alan Stajcic
Stajcic played semi-professionally in New South Wales before taking the reigns of the Sydney FC W-League squad and now the Westfield Matildas. A FIFA Women’s World Cup took him to Canada, followed by the Olympics in Rio.
3. Tony Popovic
Ending his career as a defender with Sydney FC, the Crystal Palace stalwart went on to assistant coach at Palace before heading to the red & black side of his hometown to manage Western Sydney Wanderers. He won the AFC Champions League in Iran with the Wanderers in 2014.
4. Heather Garriock
Legend Westfield Matilda Heather Garriock has begun her coaching career in earnest with Sydney University, and has been on recent tours to Asia with the Young Matildas.
5. Rale Rasic
Famously taking Australia to Germany for their first FIFA World Cup in 1974, the name Rasic is one steeped in Australian football folklore. Rale Rasic had a long career coaching following his management of the national team, mainly with NSW clubs.
6. Frank Arok
Coaching St George Saints to a National Soccer League title, Frank Arok took charge of the Australian national team in 1983. Arok coached the Socceroos for 7 years taking them to the Quarter Finals at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988.

We’re claiming Tom Sermanni as an Aussie after his long stint coaching the Westfield Matildas (2005-2012) and a short spell with Sydney Olympic. He’s since coached both the American and Canadian women’s national sides.
