7 tips for maximising your preseason training in 2017

Coach 1 Small

1. Make sure you drink enough of the right fluids pre/during and post training

Drink plenty of water.

2. Use dynamic stretching with ball work at start of training

Always train with a ball at your feet. Start slow and increase intensity slowly.

3. Make sure you eat enough of the right foods pre and post training

Aim to eat at least an hour before training begins. A piece of fruit or a healthy sandwich is perfect for both pre and post training.

4. Allow time at the end of training to warm-down, stretch and look after your body

Give yourself the best possible start to the season by ending your sessions properly. A little extra time here could mean more minutes on the park come the regular season.

5. Look to train at moderate to high intensity for a shorter time

Be disciplined and committed to training. Training at moderate to high intensity for shorter times is better for your body and is a more efficient use of time.

6. Seek advice and knowledge from all around you

You will always be learning in football. Use those around you to further grow your knowledge of the game.

7. “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” Henry Ford

At the end of the day, football is a team game. Always look for team improvement, trust and respect your teammates.

Enjoy your football this season!
